Castle Market, 2011

During a three months residency I was working along side the artists Judy Hockley and Jo Wallace in Castle Market using some designated stall spaces as our studios. The papier-mâché shapes were inspired by the history of Castle Market, that sits on the remains of Sheffield Castle going back to about 1100. The stalls became my studio where I was working and talking to market visitors. The fact that I was in the market visitor’s space it seemed easy for people to come up and start a conversation. We also had some regulars who frequently checked on progress. The residency was celebrated with ‘Closing Event’.
